THE REASONING BEHIND THE RECIPE MATH

A little math.
A more deliberate bake.

A new pan or a smaller batch starts with a ratio. These guides help you choose the right one, check what it assumes, and turn an awkward result into a measurement you can use.

Start with the question in front of you. Changing the shape of a pan? Compare its inside area. Changing the thickness of the batter as well? Include the depth. Looking at a result such as three-quarters of an egg? Keep the calculation, then decide how to measure it.

From a round pan to a rectangle

Work through an 8-inch round to a 9-inch square, compare areas instead of widths, and handle inches and centimeters correctly.

The numbers here are worked calculation examples, not tested recipes. Manna calculates ingredient quantities and geometric ratios. It does not establish whether a recipe will succeed in a different pan, choose a safe fill level, or predict baking time and temperature.

Use the pan and recipe workbench alongside your original recipe. If a calculation or explanation looks wrong, tell us what you found, including the dimensions, units, and result.
